Logitech X-230 PC speakers review Print

Logitech X-230 My old Cambridge Soundworks speakers were giving up the ghost and to be honest I listen to lots of music during the day sitting on my backside as a web developer.  My friends will tell you that I am tighter than a cows arse during fly season so I scoured the net for a good looking, good sounding package for not much cash.  I was expecting to pay about £60-£80 for a decent set, but everyone appeared to be raving about the Logitech X-230's which have been around for about a year.  £25 with free delivery from Amazon.  Hang on a minute, that's £23 for a set of Logitech speakers which I am told sound as good (and err, better!) than speakers costing £100+!  Nope, can't be true, can it?  Finding it difficult to believe the hype, I made the purchase (damn the expense and I punched the air to add emphasis)

When I unboxed them I was suprised at the size of the two speakers.  For some reason I thought they would be smaller, but they sat just nicely next to my LCD's.  The asthetics of the speakers and the sub looked very good indeed.  They have a power button on the front, together with a volume control and headphone jack.  The leads were nice and long too which makes a change.  The sub also has a level control which is needed to get the bass just right.  The sound is incredibly crisp and the bass sounds great after some level tweaking.  Other reviews I read suggested using iTunes instead of Media Player which apparently makes a massive difference in the quality.  I spent a while playing with both and noticed NO difference whatsoever!   Another bonus is that the speaker stands rotate so they can be wall mounted Logictech X-230(neat feature).
The bottom line is "WHAT THE HELL ARE LOGITECH DOING SELLING FANTASTIC SPEAKERS AT THIS PRICE!"  Idiots....  Yes, I am sure when you crank them up really loud you may notice the difference between these and a > £200 set, but for 99% of people, these will be more than perfect.  I can't recommend them enough at that price.
